DC-CAP University Partnership Scholarship

The DC-CAP University Partnership (UP) Scholarship provides a full-tuition scholarship that covers tuition, fees, room, and board costs. The UP Scholarship is a renewable scholarship that requires scholars to maintain student Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP). Below is the tentative list of the University Partners for the 2023-2024 academic year.

  14. West Chester University of Pennsylvania 

The University Partnership Scholarship requires collective funding from DC-CAP, DC Tuition Assistance Grant (DC TAG), Federal Pell Grant Program, and institutional gift aid. In some instances, students must contribute up to the maximum Federal Pell Grant amount (currently equal to $7,395 for the 2023-2024 academic year) towards the direct cost. Students can use Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grants (FSEOG) or loans; private scholarship(s); and/or family contributions in place of maximum Federal Pell Grant eligibility. 

Program Eligibility Requirements

  • You are a graduating senior of a DC public or public charter high school
  • You must be registered through the DC-CAP Registration Form
  • You are DCTAG eligible
  • You must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident
  • You are admitted by and attend selected partner institution in the Fall immediately following senior year
  • You have a cumulative high school GPA of 2.7 or higher
  • You demonstrate financial need, leadership skills and community service experience
  • You are a graduating senior of a DC public or public charter high school where DC-CAP provides services
  • You must participate in mandatory individual and/or group counseling sessions with your DC-CAP Advisor

DC-CAP Scholarship

The DC-CAP Scholarship is available to DC public and public charter high school students who attend a high school where DC-CAP provides services. The DC-CAP Scholarship awards $4,000 per year for up to 5 years after high school graduation. The scholarship offers select students the option to attend the college of their preferred choice. The maximum award amount is $20,000. Scholars must also maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) of at least a 2.5 GPA to maintain eligibility for scholarship renewal. 

Program Eligibility Requirements 

  • ALL students are eligible for the scholarship regardless of citizen status
  • You must be registered for DC-CAP program Registration Form
  • You have a cumulative high school GPA of 2.5 or higher
  • You demonstrate financial need and leadership potential
  • You must participate in mandatory individual and/or group counseling sessions with your DC-CAP Advisor
  • You are admitted by and attend an institution of higher education in the Fall immediately following senior year
  • You are a graduating senior of a DC public or public charter high school where DC-CAP provides services.

The DC-CAP Scholarship is NOT guaranteed and is subject to the availability of funds. You must meet ALL the minimum requirements to be considered for the award. All scholarship recipients must attend the Virtual Pre-College Experience (Date: TBA) and verify college enrollment to receive funding!
